Soap Berries

(Bears love the taste of Soap Berries but to me they tasted a little bland and were waxy. They gave off a really fresh smell when crushed or stepped on.)

  Soap Berries...

Soap Berries grew along the gravelly river beds and in the mountain tundra meadows.  They were easy to identify.  They grew to be about 1-3 feet high, had dark green oval leaves, and bright red oval berries. Bears love the taste of Soap Berries but to me they tasted a little bland and were waxy. They gave off a really fresh smell when crushed or stepped on.
